• If you are traveling with bags, tie the same color ribbon or tag on each one so they're easy to identify at the carousel and place your name and contact information inside as well as outside the suitcase.
• Pack essentials and a few clothing items in your carry-on (including a bathing suit), especially if you have connecting flights, in case your luggage doesn't arrive with you at your destination.
• Flights and waits at airports can be long, especially for young children. Make sure they're occupied with books, travel games (quiet ones) and coloring books for the trip.
• Get wise to what many travel pros already know: all-inclusive vacations are more than a great way to stay within your vacation budget, they offer a lot for the money.
• A happy family can make anyplace you're at seem like heaven. Organize different activities that appeal to different family members and one activity a day you know the whole family will enjoy participating in.
• Treat yourself to a vacation at a family-friendly resort where trained and certified nannies are available. This allows you to indulge yourself a bit while your kids are well cared for and having a blast with other kids.
• Take the stress out of planning and consider the "all-inclusive" vacation resorts. The best ones have tons of activities and recreation for kids and adults, a variety of restaurants to keep even finicky eaters happy, included drinks, and the ultra-cool convenience of never having to carry cash or credit cards.
• Cross-checking with your other half and the kids is always a good way to avoid leaving things behind in your room when you are preparing to return home.
• Packing dirty and fresh clothes separately -- whether it's in a plastic bag, separate suitcase compartments or in separate suitcases-- saves time once you are at home.
• Once you settle back home, scrapbooking can be a great way to organize and display your vacation photos for generations to come.
